The radio/cassette player operates when the ignition switch is in position 'I' or 'II'. Signal output from the radio/cassette player is relayed to two speakers mounted in the lower fascia. The radio/cassette display is illuminated when the unit is switched on.
Operation
Feed from the battery positive terminal is connected to fuse 7 and fusible link 5 of the engine compartment fuse box (C0632-1) by a brown wire. Fuse 7 (C0574-1) supplies a constant battery feed to the radio/cassette player (C0098-4) via header 287 on a purple/brown wire. This feed powers the units memory, allowing the radio to retain pre-set radio stations.
Fusible link 5 (C0570-2) is connected to the ignition switch (C0028-1) by a brown/white wire. When the ignition switch is turned to position 'I' (C0099-1) or 'II' (C0094-1) current flows across the switch to fuse 14 of the passenger compartment fuse box (C0581-5) on a white/orange wire.
Fuse 14 (C0581-8) supplies the radio/cassette player (C0098-7) with an ignition feed on a white/orange wire. The radio/cassette player is earthed (C0098-8) on a black wire.
The radio/cassette player is connected to the speakers as follows;
